A VIOLENT home invasion at Riverstone that left two teenage boys in hospital last night may be linked to neighbourhood disputes over loud parties and offensive behaviour, residents say.
One boy, 16, was taken to hospital with a deep cut to one hand and a broken finger, while his brother, 17, had an ankle broken by a man wielding a baseball bat, police said.
The mother and 14-year-old sister of the two boys were also home when a group of men wearing balaclavas broke into the home in McCulloch Street about 11.30pm, last night.
Police said neither mother or young girl were injured in the attack but were left shocked after the violent ordeal.
A television, windows, walls and furniture were smashed by an unknown number of men armed with wooden and metal batons, police said.
Police said the home invasion did not appear to be a robbery and that the victims had not provided them with a statement.
The mother of the family told the Sun she did not want to comment about the attack.
Neighbours who live in the street said the home was known as a ‘‘party house’’ and that the family was regularly involved in conflicts with other residents.
One woman who heard the invasion described what she heard: ‘‘The young girl is only 14 and the way she screamed . . . it was louder than normal.’’
‘‘It wasn’t one of their usual alcohol-fuelled arguments, so we called police.’’
Several residents in the street said they had complained to the department of housing about parties and offensive behaviour at the property.
Forensic police spent this morning investigating the crime scene.
