A HOMELESS man was set upon by a gang of youths at Blacktown train station who kicked and punched him in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police said a group of about seven teenage males surrounded the man, who was believed to be about 35, at 3.35am on the station concourse.
The boys punched and kicked the man for no apparent reason, police said, before rail security came to his aide.
Police said the victim then lashed out at his gang with a pair of scissors, cutting the head and hand of one of his assailants.
The thugs continued to harass the man before they dispersed to the taxi rank.
Police found an 18-year-old man with cuts to the back of his head and hand and an ambulance was called to take him to Westmead Hospital.
He was charged the next day with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and violent disorder.
Police identified another of the alleged offenders as a teenage male who had broken his bail conditions by breaching a curfew that night.
Investigations are continuing. Anyone with information about the attack should contact crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
