BREAK Thru Employment Solutions raised a collective cup for the cause last week at its office in Blacktown.
Staff of this not-for-profit agency, which finds work for people with a disability, raised $1755 for the Cancer Council at its annual Biggest Morning Tea.
A Break Thru representative said the organisation was always looking at ways of getting involved in the community.
To help raise funds, the agency asked businesses for donations.
Woolworths in Richmond, My Sweet Heart Bakery in Wolli Creek, Hot Corner Thai Restaurant and Goodyear Autocare in Leichhardt and local hairdresser Victoria Zielinska all came to the party.
Break Thru staff put together nine hampers and auctioned them on its staff intranet.
The cheapest hamper sold for $65 and the dearest for $210.
Charlie Shaw, a woman Break Thru consultant who recently had to have chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, said she was pleased with everyone's generosity.
``This shows how supportive everyone in the community is not only my colleagues, but also all the local businesses that came on board,'' she said.
``The funds raised will help the Cancer Council in its research and education.
``We are happy to help make it one step closer to reaching its $11 million goal.''
