DAFFODIL lovers will get a big treat at Mount Tomah Botanic Garden this spring.
Brunet Meadow is hosting its annual festival of hundreds of new bulbs with the planting of 36 extra narcissus cultivars.
They include King Alfred, Minor Monarch and new varieties like August Pink, Bliss, Fortissimo, Gigantic Star, Moneymaker, Spellbinder and Tiddly Wink.
The land on which Mount Tomah Botanic Garden sits was previously owned by Alfred and Effie Brunet who operated it as a cut flower farm supplying the Sydney market.
With their passing the place was bequeathed to the Royal Botanic Garden of Sydney, giving life to the cool climate garden of the Botanic Gardens Trust.
Mount Tomah Botanic Garden, perched on a basalt capped peak at 1000 metres above sea level in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Listed area is now home to cool climate plants from around the world.
With rich volcanic soil and cool mountain temperatures, the Garden has the ideal growing conditions for plants not suitable to Sydney's climate.
