Dangerous inmate escapes from Parklea

08 Oct, 2009 12:35 PM
Police have renewed their appeal for public assistance to locate an inmate who escaped from a western Sydney correctional centre overnight.

About 7.30pm yesterday, police were called to the Compulsory Drug Treatment Correctional Centre at Parklea, after Soubhi Arja, 25, was found to be missing during a muster.

A search failed to locate Arja, who’s currently serving a prison term for armed robbery and other offences.

It’s believed Arja escaped from the Sentry Drive facility some time between 6.50 and 7.15pm.

Police from Quakers Hill and Blacktown Local Area Commands, Polair and the Dog Unit conducted an extensive search of surrounding suburbs in a bid to locate Arja, while his description was also circulated via police radio.

He has been described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, 181cm tall with medium build, black hair and brown eyes.

Police consider Arja to be dangerous and warn anyone who sees him should not approach him but contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
