SERVICE delivery marks International Harmony Day in Blacktown and Mount Druitt this year.
Harmony Day is an annual event, celebrating communities' diversity.
Blacktown's celebration is on March 27 and a larger event happens in Mount Druitt on April 5.
Blacktown Migrant Resource Centre's community project officer, Janette Sauterel, said: ``We decided to celebrate by involving all the services which operate in our building [at 125 Main Street, Blacktown].''
``We're all so busy we sometimes don't know who our neighbours are,'' she said.
``I thought it was a good way to celebrate and share information.''
Police, firefighters and emergency services will also take part.
Blacktown police's ethnic communities liaison officer, Assefa Bekele, said some immigrants were suspicious of the police because of bad experiences with authority in their home countries.
``On Harmony Day, we hope it creates a different perception when they see police on the stalls,'' he said.
``They don't normally see how police work with the communities in the education system and in trying to create employment.''
Mount Druitt's celebrations take place in Dawson Mall on April 5.
The Mount Druitt Ethnic Communities Agency co-ordinator, Patricia Pous, said:
``We're trying to work together as a group for all services provided in Mount Druitt.''
