SOUNDBYTES of fame are possible, even for those with no discernible talent.
Seven Hills country music fan Jon Spink is living proof of that.
He's signed his autograph on the skins of an estimated 4000 fellow fans and of a few celebrities, too.
Why? Because he can.
``I signed the McClymonts the other night [October 31] at Rooty Hill RSL,'' he said.
``I've also signed Steve Forde, Gemma Luxton, Tori Darke and [2KA radio presenter] Cameron Syrett.''
Spink signs his first name with a heart symbol in place of ``o'' on the bare arms of celebrities or any other person who asks to be signed in this way.
He admits it's unusual, because most fans want the stars' autographs instead.
``It started out as a bit of a joke,'' he said.
``I was at the CMC Rocks the Snowys [music festival] last March.
``I'd had a few drinks and there was a line-up for autographs. Then I said there was no point lining up because I'd sign the autographs myself.''
He said people started queueing for his signature and, before he knew it, hundreds were sporting his first name.
``I signed a few artists, too, including Sinead Burgess. She told me that a bloke had been talking about me backstage.
``She later wrote to me, saying my name had marked her clothes.''
Thanks to Facebook and other uses of the internet, Spink's fame has spread further than he intended.
``I've had people come up to me saying `You're that bloke from the concert at Thredbo','' he said.
He said some people then want him to sign them. ``When I asked the McClymonts if I could sign them they gave me a funny look but other people said `He's signed me' so they let me.''
Spink said some people at concerts have reacted badly, telling him to go away, but he said most got into the spirit of it.
``I try to make people have a good time.''
Spink is hoping to sign some visiting international artists one day, including Keith Urban and Taylor Swift.
