JOSEPH Fairweather's body and mind may be a bit weary at 92 years but it didn't stop the former RAAF officer from attending the Anzac Day service at the Adventist Nursing Home in Kings Langley where he now lives.
He was among about 60 residents and their families who took part in the special service in the home's courtyard on Tuesday.
Mr Fairweather flew in 34 missions as a flight officer during World War II including the invasion of Normandy.
``Fear was taken out of me during the war after seeing my comrades being killed,'' he said when asked about his war experiences.
Mr Fairweather has been awarded an OAM for his service to servicemen and for service in the community including running a youth club.
Another resident, Russell Akers, 87, a gunner in the Australian Army who served in Papua New Guinea from 1939 to 1943, also attended.
Blacktown RSL Club chairman Bob Durbin who also attended the service donated a flag pole and an Australian flag to the nursing home that only moved to its new premises in December last year.
