SENIORS can dispose their old Christmas trees free of charge at the Eastern Creek waste and recycling centre until Friday January 15.
WSN Environmental Solutions is offering this service to those who are unable to cut up their trees and place them in their garden organic bin.
Its CEO Ken Kanofski said they were for residents who don't have a separate garden organic bin or were unable to dispose of their trees correctly due to age or disability.
He reminded residents to remove all decorations from Christmas trees before disposing of them.
``The Christmas trees will be processed into compost and mulch for use in agricultural and horticultural markets,'' he said.
``Those who do not hold seniors or concession cards will be charged $5 instead of the usual minimum charge of $28 for garden organic and the offer is limited to one tree per vehicle.
`` Trees that are part of a car or trailer-load of garden organic will be charged at the usual rates.''
