Thrill for girls when rock bands perform at school

09 Jun, 2009 12:53 PM
BLACKTOWN Girls High School students rocked during their lunch break on Thursday, thanks to a visit from Aussie rock acts Dash & Will and Short Stack.

The bands performed after the school was declared winner of a recent competition, Jam It Up Your Class held by FM radio station Nova.

The Blacktown girls lodged a total of 56,216 votes, pipping schools from all around Sydney to the prize.

Student Emma McDonald, 15, was responsible for drumming up support.

For her efforts she was treated to a personal chat with the Short Stack boys before the concert.

``That was awesome, I love Short Stack's music and Dash & Will are great,'' Emma said.

``I got heaps of friends to vote and I also got my mum, my dad and my auntie to stay up all night for the past few weeks to help get votes.''
