BROTHERS fight brothers, sisters fight sisters, and sometimes nasty big brothers bully little sisters.
Such domestic spats shouldn't happen, but can in the best of families.
Boys will be boys and girls will be girls and all the parent-help manuals in the world won't change that.
But brothers and sisters don't have formal fights.
Well, they do now.
Siblings Simran and Rahul Naidu have slugged and slammed it out in the final of the NSW 10-11 all-styles martial arts championships.
They'd both beaten their opponents in the preliminary bouts and then it was a case of ``Naidu? No, after you.''
Brotherly and sisterly love was lost as the two faced each other across the mat. The lead fluctuated as they went punch for punch, kick for kick, tit for tat and tat for tit across that mat.
The bout went into extra time.
And the winner was?
Rahul by a point.
Young male ego may have been preserved but Simran had proven she wouldn't need big brother to protect her.
The bout over, they laid down their gloves and embraced in true Samurai style.
The cause of this formal conflict?
Their mother Anita.
She introduced them to martial arts three years ago at the Goju Ryu Bushido Karate Academy at Doonside Technology High School.
There's some pedigree in the family.
Father Raj is a past participant and instructor who has resumed the discipline.
