Home team snatches win on last ball of the match

17 Nov, 2009 10:01 AM
ZAC Johns' century couldn't gain Blacktown a win in round four of the under-14 junior representative cricket, but Jordon Gauci's debut ton did in U12s.

His 109 not out secured Blacktown the win on the last ball of their match against Fairfield Liverpool as they chased down 7-214 for the loss of five wickets.

It was a dashing double from Gauci because he also took 3-37 from six overs and stood alone as man of the match.

Johns couldn't have done any more against St George in the U14s. His 107 not out was mainly responsible for Blacktown's reaching 8-194, a total St George passed for the loss of six wickets.

The story was worse in U10s, where Fairfield Liverpool, 1-56 beat Blacktown 55.

The U11s scored their fourth-straight win, however.

They made 3-104, dismissed Canterbury West for 76 and then had them 6-70.

Varun Lakshman, 2-1, Ryan Handley, 2-4 and Nivnesh Prasad, 2-16 shared the first-innings wickets.

A partnership of 71 between Param Uppal, 37 not out and Nikhil Parvathaneni, 32 got their team the points after Blacktown were 2-6.

In U13s, Blacktown beat Canterbury West by 26 runs after scoring 108.

This was thanks to fine bowling from Harman Sandhu, 2-15, Dylan Bent, 2-15, Blake Johnson 2-7 and Brinthen Prabakaren, 2-6.

Bowling couldn't save Blacktown in U15s; they were dismissed for 95 in reply to 4-127.

Nor could it in U16s, where Manly Warringah responded to Blacktown's 95 with 5-100 and then had them 5-160.
