JIM Hunter thinks he can surprise the more fancied cars at the Armor All-Bathurst 12-Hour race at Mount Panorama on February 12-14.
Dean Herridge and Barton Mawer will join him, completing a team with extensive international racing and rallying experience.
The team will also have the luxury of a reserve in Lynn Brown, one of the greats of Australian motor racing.
``We are all going into this race with the attitude that we will not be as quick as the EVO's, but it is an endurance race and we plan to be at the finish,'' said Blacktown businessman Hunter.
While Hunter is better known as a racing driver, he has also done his share of rallying in Asia.
Possibly his finest hour was when he built a Ford Falcon utility specifically to compete in Mexico in the famous Baja 1000.
He shocked the regulars with a class win.
