Police continue search for man who stole patrol car

Police have located the highway patrol car that was stolen from near Dean Park this morning in Parramatta but continue their search for the driver who allegedly took it.

Police have released an image of a man, Arthur Partsch, who they believe might be able to assist him with their inquiries. 

He is considered dangerous is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, 170 centimetres tall, with brown eyes and of medium build and may be wearing a pair of dark shorts with no shirt.

About 7.30pm on Sunday, January 27, the Holden Commodore was recovered by police after a resident of Robertson Street realised the police car parked outside was the one in recent news reports.

Police are in the process of recovering the vehicle and will have it forensically examined and determine if anything has been stolen or damaged.

It was about 11.50am Sunday, Mount Druitt Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on the M7 near the Richmond Road off ramp. 

The driver of the vehicle struggled with police and was able to break free of the officers.

He was last seen getting into the highway patrol car and driving away. 

Anyone with information about Arthur Partsch is asked not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero immediately.
