Prizes galore in one website

TWO young western Sydney entrepreneurs have set up a national online company for website competitions popular with stay-at-home mums.

Zway Yee and Alessandro Chisari are partners in e-business company, competitions.com.au which has become Australia's top website with about 1500 hits a day and 40,000 members since it was set up about six months ago.

"Competitions.com.au is increasing its user base month by month," Mr Yee said.

"It is designed for users to enter more than 400 competitions run by about 300 companies with prizes ranging from $200 to $200,000.

"We aggregate these competitions into a listing style format to make it as easy as possible for users."

Mr Yee said their company would expand their operation to the UK and USA to win greater share of the online world market in six months.

Mr Yee, 27, worked as an online marketing manager for about two years while his partner Mr Chisari, 29, was a programmer for about two years before they set up their company.

The two men paid $20,000 for competitions.com.au to the original owner who paid $500 to register the domain in 2000.

Their company's revenue comes from 15 per cent of some 300 companies running the competitions, Google, for generating hits on its site ranging from 50 cents to $1 per hit and for the sale of email information to companies.
