A woman found with $65,000 worth of cigarettes has been arrested at a Blacktown market.
Police said they were offered cigarettes by a woman operating a market stall on Cricketers Arms Road about 9.45am yesterday.
The detectives then searched the stall and her car where they allegedly found 2799 packets of cigarettes of various brands.
The cigarettes have an estimated value of $65,000.
Police also seized 18 bags of tobacco with a value of about $800.
About 10.25am the Bonnyrigg woman, 33, was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station where she was charged with sell tobacco product by retail from booth/tent.
She has been granted conditional bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court February 28.
Police from the North West Metropolitan Region Operation Countdown started investigations into the supply of illegally obtained cigarettes after receiving reports of many thefts since the latter part of last year.
