Penrith High student, Max Duignan, will take to the water this weekend at the Regatta Centre to defend his title as the Under 16 NSW Rowing Champion.
The 15-year-old will represent the Penrith Rowing Club at the NSW Rowing Championships in the single sculls and double sculls events.
Watch part of our interview with Max below:
“I’m very excited for the NSW championships, I've been looking forward to it since last year,” Max said.
Although he has only been rowing since 2010, Max has won all seven of his races this year and is confident he can continue his winning streak.
“I’m not particularly worried about my NSW competitors as I know what to expect and how they race and know that I can perform OK,” Max said.
“But anyone out of state could be trouble."
Despite them being trouble it’s the interstate rowers Max is most looking forward to racing because he has something to prove.
“It’s also a pride thing, because I want to show that NSW is better.”
Max will also be competing at the Australian National Championships during the Sydney International Rowing Regatta in March when the 2013 World Rowing Cup comes to Australia.
