Police have charged the associate of an outlaw motorcycle gang after he was found with a loaded handgun in Blacktown.
Officers from Operation Apollo – formed to target gun crime – stopped a Subaru Imprezza at a service station on Flushcombe Road about 6.40pm, Friday, February 15.
The 27-year-old man had a suspended licence and was arrested.
Police allegedly found one gram of methamphetamine in his pocket and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the car.
The man was taken to Blacktown police station and interviewed by detectives. He is alleged to be an associate of the Finks/Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang.
Police from Operation Apollo have charged with man with possession of a loaded firearm in a public, possession of an unauthorised and unregistered firearm, possession of a prohibited drug and driving while suspended.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court later today.
Operation Apollo was established in February 2013 to target gun and organised crime.
