THE sleep of hundreds of people living in some parts of Blacktown and Holsworthy may be disturbed by plane noises from tonight until Friday night.
About five Black Hawk helicopters are conducting flights over Londonderry, Plumpton and Holsworthy as part of a training exercise each afternoon until 11pm.
Federal MP for Chifley Ed Husic said residents need not be alarmed by the increased activity.
He said the Army conducted exercises like these periodically to ensure pilots and air crew were well trained for flying in all conditions.
“They can often be quite loud when passing over the tops of homes, but low flying is a necessary part of their operations,” he said.
‘‘The training has been designed to have as little impact on residents as possible but some noise may be noticeable.’’
