THE Police Officer of the Year Award acknowledges outstanding acts of courage, compassion, understanding and devotion to duty.
This year Westpoint Blacktown proudly celebrates 12 years of support for this great cause.
The program will be launched this Friday, March 1, at Westpoint Blacktown.
Blacktown highway patrol members and Rotary are asking the community to support the event and donate to the NSW Police Legacy. This foundation is the only one of its kind that gives financial help to widows, widowers and partners of police officers who have died.
Westpoint centre manager Mel Gray said the centre recognised the importance of policing and of all the tasks that police carry out each day.
"The Police Officer of the Year program allows the community to recognise and reward members of our local area command for going above and beyond the call of duty," Ms Gray said.
Nominations for Police Officer of the Year Awards close on Wednesday, March 27, two days before Good Friday.
The presentation night will be held at Blacktown Workers Club on Tuesday, April 30.
Nomination forms are available from the Westpoint customer service and online at westpoint .com.au or blacktownsun .com.au.
