The Blacktown Warriors are a win away from creating history.
They are sixth on 49 points with one round left in the Sydney first grade cricket competition.
Should they beat last-placed Eastern Suburbs at Joe McAleer Reserve in a limited-overs game this Saturday they are virtually assured of making the finals for the first time in the club’s history.
Sydney, on 48 points, North Sydney 46, and Bankstown and Cambelltown-Camden, 45, are the other contenders.
Blacktown reached their ‘‘all-but’’ position by beating fourth-placed Randwick-Petersham in a reduced limited-overs game at Joe McAleer Reserve on Saturday.
Matt Foster took 4-43 as Blacktown dismissed the visitors for 175 and then consistent opener Brett Collison topscored with 46 as Blacktown reeled in the target for the loss of seven wickets.
