Wanderers back Bryson Anderson Gala Day

The inaugural 2013 Bryson Anderson Memorial Football Gala Day will be on Saturday, March 30 at the COLO SFC, Cougar Park, Inalls Lane, Richmond NSW– the former junior home of Socceroos legend Mark Schwarzer and 2012 NSW Premier League winning coach Luke Casserley.

Bryson Anderson was the manager of the Colo U13/3s last year and a leading member of the NSW Police Force before his life was tragically cut short in the line of duty.

The event pays tribute to a great supporter of Special Olympics, a proud Law Enforcement Torch Run supporter, dedicated Police Officer and man who was passionate about football.

There will be a NSW Police-RAAF Celebrity game with a special presentation to be made by Bryson’s parents Rex and Shirley.

Support is coming from all parts of the community.

The Gala Day has been endorsed by the FFA, FNSW, Western Sydney Wanderers, Nepean DSFA, Nepean DSRA, NSW Law Enforcement Torch Run, NSW Police, RAAF as well as local councils. Local officials expect between 2,000 to 3,000 people to engage on the day.

This event gives all amateur clubs the chance for a final pre-season run in a round robin format and at the same time raise much needed funds for Bryson’s Memorial Fund and Special Olympics NSW.

There are six age groups participating in the Gala Day – U12 Girls, U14 Boys, U16 Boys, Senior Men, Senior Women and Men’s O35s.

The teams are 11-a-side and will be played on full sized fields.

Junior team registration is $400 (minimum of four games) while Senior registration is $500 (minimum of three games).

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be involved just a day after they play in Newcastle.

Injured Central Coast Mariner Adam Kwasnik and former team-mate Brad Porter have also confirmed their attendance, along with some special football identities who will be taking part in the NSW Police-RAAF Celebrity game.

Wanderer Aaron Mooy has donated a signed Wanderers jersey and a worn and signed Socceroos jersey to be auctioned to raise money for the Memorial Fund.

If you are looking for the last chance for match fitness and team bonding before the start of the winter football season it is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the world game and at the same time support two worthwhile causes.

The Gala Day is planned to be an annual event showcasing the sport Bryson loved – football.
