A YOUNG entrepreneur who went against the trend of manufacturing her underwear products overseas, recently received a $50,000 grant to improve her online business in Blacktown.
Lisa Nouh of Parramatta, the managing director of BNB Group Australia, recruited 10 ex-Pacific Brands workers to make her Tuffys and Tuffetts brands at Arndell Park when Bonds moved its operation to China.
She also bought the company's disused sewing machines to make garments at her warehouse.
The 28-year former financial controller said the grant would help to stimulate innovation and growth of her company with an enterprise management system integrated with an e-commerce website.
Ms Nouh said she was inspired to set up her underwear business by her mum who used to work for Bonds for 35 years.
"It was my dream to design, make and sell Australian quality underwear in the country and overseas," she said.
"My price is competitive with known brands but quality is better as they are made in Australia and sold with free shipping to customers in the country."
