THINGS are going swimmingly for the new Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre.
The community has embraced the $24 million Rooty Hill facility since it opened its doors a fortnight ago.
Crowds flocked there on Saturday for a public open day, which was hailed a success.
Gymnastics demonstrations, testing the kinder gym, sports assessments and a ducky dip were among the popular activities.
"We filled the pool with 500 rubber ducks for the fishing challenge," aquatic centre manager Lloyd Rothwell said.
"There were only a handful of ducks left by the end of the day. It was a great day. We had a lot of people come through, asking lots of questions about the various programs."
More than 350 people have signed up for the swim school.
"The last two weeks have been very busy," Mr Rothwell said.
"We're impressed by the number of people who have signed up for lessons.
"It will give these kids a head start going into the warmer months in staying safe around water."
There are still spots in the swim school and other programs.
"We still have plenty of room as we're here for the community," Mr Rothwell said.
