CHILD abuse squad detectives have charged a 25-year-old man with the sexual assault of a teenage girl he met through church.
The man is a Sri Lankan national who has been living in Doonside.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault.
Police will allege that in July this year, the man met the teenager at church and commenced phone contact with her.
Police will also allege the man sexually assaulted the girl on two occasions in late August.
He was arrested by the squad at Blacktown railway station at 11am yesterday.
The man, who was refused bail, will appear at Blacktown Local Court today.
The child abuse squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical and emotional abuse and serious cases of neglect.
The squad works in partnership with the Department of Family and Community Services and NSW Health, with specialised tri-agency teams based at metropolitan and regional locations throughout NSW.
