Actor Joel Edgerton has found a worthy way to spend his no doubt handsome fee for starring in Baz Luhrmann's remake of The Great Gatsby.
The boy from Blacktown, who attended Hills Grammar School, has spent almost $1.6 million on a Sydney base, a four-bedroom semi with ocean glimpses in North Bondi. The off-market deal was negotiated by a tight-lipped co-principal of GoodyerDonnelley, Jason Pantzer
The O'Donnell Street sale follows another Edgerton purchase that excited a few Bondi Beach locals, but this time it was by his solicitor father, Michael, who picked up a two-bedder on Sir Thomas Mitchell Road for $1 million in May, again through Pantzer. That art deco pad is probably an investment, given Edgerton snr and his wife, Marianne, have a waterfront Drummoyne home, for which they paid $1.4 million in 1994.
