Neal Cameron, who is the head brewer at The Australian Brewery in Rouse Hill, will take on the role of chief judge of the 2013 Sydney Royal Beer and Cider Show.
"It is extremely exciting to be involved, and not a little intimidating to be asked to carry on this tradition," Mr Cameron, a tasting panellist for Beer and Brewer Magazine and Treasurer of Cider Australia, said.
The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW has been judging beer as part of the Summer Fine Food Show since the Sydney Royal Beer Competition was established in 2007, but this year the competition will be a standalone event due to its increasing popularity.
Judging categories include golden lagers, stouts and porters, reduced alcohol beer, cider, perry and speciality beer.
Winners will be celebrated at a function at Sydney Showground this Friday, to which the public is also invited.
