A.J. OGILVY has begun his career with The Sydney Kings with a bounce: there's no better way to say it.
The former Hills junior representative was indeed a king in The Kings' princely display against the Townsville Crocodiles in the NBL Blitz at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre last Tuesday.
The Kings won 81-70 and Ogilvy was a huge factor on offence.
He finished with 17 points but surprisingly had a quiet night on the boards — grabbing just one solitary rebound.
After a tardy start, The Kings edged ahead 39-34 at half-time, thanks to a point-scoring onslaught from Ogilvy in the second term.
Ogilvy left in the third quarter after feeling a hamstring twinge.
It's been a big early season for the 211-centimetre Ogilvy, formerly a centre for Vanderbilt University in the USA.
He had already made the Australian Boomers squad for the 2013 FIBA Oceania Championships.
"Being selected in an Australian squad always means a lot to me," he said.
"Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to play for Australia.
"I cherish every chance I get to wear the green and gold."
A rigorous training regime both on-court and off has paid off for the 25-year-old.
