BLACKTOWN Workers have joined Greenway at the top of the table after an 8-7 win over Cronulla Sutherland in the women's baseball league.
The game was in the balance for all seven innings in windy conditions.
Representative pitcher Pani Taylor restricted the Cronulla scoring. Workers recruit Stephanie Gaynor, a member of the national team, hit a solo home run after Blacktown fell behind.
She then pitched to close down the scoring in the top of the seventh.
Christie Gardener completed the gutsy win with a walk-off double to left field, ending the up-and-coming Cronulla's hopes.
Meanwhile, the NSW Women's Baseball League hosted the annual girls' friendship series at Orchard Hills on the weekend.
More than 150 players from throughout Australia played and participated in clinics.
Blacktown will have several players in contention for national championships selection at the NSW country titles at Nelson Bay this weekend.
