Police seized a pistol and cannabis in a raid on a house in Riverstone yesterday.
Officers attached to Operation Talon went to a house at Gladestone Parade at about 11.45am and found a pistol and a small amount of cannabis while conducting a search of the property.
Investigations into the matter are continuing and police expect a number of charges to be laid.
Operation Talon was formed in August this year to combat public place shootings in Sydney.

Caught over the limit and speeding in Quakers Hill
A man was charged with high-range drink driving and speeding in Quakers Hill last Monday.
Officers attached to Quakers Hill highway patrol detected a car travelling at 170km/h in a 100km/h zone at about 10.45pm on the M7 motorway.
The car was pulled over and the driver, 55, was breath tested.
He returned a positive reading and was taken to Quakers Hill police station where he was submitted to a breath analysis and recorded 0.160.
The man was charged with high-range drink driving and exceed speed over 45km/h.
His licence was suspended and his registration plates seized for three months.
He will appear in Blacktown Local Court on October 28.
