MORE than 12,000 competitors have signed up for the third NSW Tough Mudder at Eastern Creek this Sunday and Monday.
The 20 kilometre event — recently moved from Fernhill, Mulgoa — is full of military-style and other obstacles, including mud pits, ice baths and electric shocks.
"It presents some great challenges just by virtue of the existing features, plus a series of challenging obstacles that we will create," Tough Mudder Australasia managing director Drew Ward said of the new venue.
"We try to give people a new, fresh experience every time and we do that by introducing new obstacles and new courses.
"But one way of the best ways of mixing it up is to go to a completely new venue."
After the April Tough Mudder at Mulgoa, some were disappointed by the lack of mud, water and difficulty compared with the 2012 event at Glenworth Valley.
But Ward said the new course would live up to the Tough Mudder name.
"This course will lend itself to be as tough as you make it," Ward said.
"Different people like different aspects of the course. Some love the mud, some love the running, some love tackling the obstacles and some just love the atmosphere and the camaraderie."
