Police have appeared for information after a teenage boy was assaulted with a machete at Blacktown on Saturday.
The 17-year-old boy had left a party in Dora Avenue and was walking along Reservoir Road a short distance in front of two girls the same age, when a silver coloured car stopped next to him just after midnight.
Three men got out of the car and when head butted the 17-year-old in the face.
The boy pushed his assailant to the ground before he was struck in the head by the second male with a bottle.
As the boy covered his head he was struck to the arm by the third male with a machete.
The offenders then returned to their vehicle and fled in a northerly direction along Reservoir Road.
The injured male walked to his home and emergency services were called.
He was treated by Ambulance Paramedics for lacerations to his head and left forearm and conveyed to Blacktown Hospital for further treatment.
Police from Blacktown Local Area Command conducted a search of the area but could not locate the offenders.
They have been described only as being of Caucasian appearance between 150 and 160cm tall and wearing baseball caps. Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
