A 13-year-old girl was shot in the back in what police described as a targeted shooting at a home in Blacktown last night.
Three men, one armed with a shotgun had first approached the front door of the house on Sunnyholt Road at about 11pm.
One of the men knocked on the front door and a male resident answered.
Police said a brief altercation occurred between the men before the occupant closed the door.
As the three men left the premises several shots were fired into the home, one of the shots hit the in the back.
She was taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
A woman and her two sons who were also home at the time were not injured.
A crime scene has been established while police conduct further inquiries.
