Winds cut power to thousands in western Sydney

Power has been cut to about 10,700 homes across western Sydney and the Hawkesbury after wind gusts of up to 70km per hour brought down trees and branches over power lines.

A statement from Endeavour Energy said emergency crews wer eworking to restore power.Residents have been warned to stay clear of fallen powerlines and report them to Endeavour on 131 003. 

Power has been cut to about 3800 homes and businesses in Guilford, Granville, Chester Hill and Girraween.

Strong winds have interrupted electricity supply to 1700 homes in Richmond, Agnes Banks and Riverstone.

Around Penrith, 1400 homes in Cambridge Park and Londonderry are currently without supply due to the strong winds.

And further south, 1400 customers in Austral, Kemps Creek, Rossmore and Badgerys Creek are without power due to trees over powerlines.

‘‘Unfortunately, we're unable to provide restoration time frames at this stage as the wind is still very strong and there may be subsequent damage sustained by our network,’’ Endeavour Media Manager Peter Payne said.
