Woman hurt in Blacktown bag snatch

Police have appealed for public assistance after a woman was injured in a bag snatch incident in Blacktown yesterday.

Police said a woman, 36, was walking to her car parked in Warwick Lane at  about 11am when she was approached by a man who tried to grab her handbag, causing her to fall to the ground.

There was a struggle and the man ran away with the bag.

He was chased by bystanders and eventually dropped the bag.

He was last seen running along Warwick Lane towards Main Street.

The woman suffered grazing to her forearm, a sore knee and ankle and possible broken finger during the incident.

The man police believe may be able to assist with inquiries is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 20-25 years with a medium build.

The man has short brown hair and was about 160cm tall. At the time of the incident he was wearing a white t-shirt with red stripes and navy blue shorts.
