Top talent on stage for that special day

PATRIOTIC pride will rock The Rooty Hill once again on Australia Day.

Darren Percival, runner up on The Voice 2012, and 2012 X Factor finalists The Collective headline Blacktown Council's family-friendly and alcohol-free celebrations at The Rooty Hill, 4pm-9.30pm.

As well as non-stop live, there will be amusement rides and a parachute jump (featuring the biggest Australian flag in the southern hemisphere) and fireworks.

The Rooty Hill is a 10-minute walk from the station and on-site parking is available.

For early risers, tickets are selling out fast for the Wake Up with Wildlife event at Featherdale Wildlife Park.

"It's an extremely popular event and is one of our busiest mornings of the year," Featherdale marketing manager Kellie Ames said.

"It's one of the best times to see the animals.

"They're very alert first thing in the morning because they're waiting to be fed."

Ticket holders must enter the park between 7am and 9am.

A sausage sizzle breakfast will be available for purchase, provided by the Riverstone Lions Club.

Cost is $2 a person and proceeds will be donated to the Australian Koala Foundation.
