Good wicket couldn't save the day for Blacktown

BLACKTOWN District Grade Club played Northern Districts at Mark Taylor Oval, Waitara, on Saturday.

First grade won the toss and batted on a good wicket getting off to a good start with 0-20, then lost a string of wickets to be 7-62.

Captain Tony Clark and Nathan Sowter presented an eight-wicket partnership for 62, with Nathan dismissed for 43.

Tony Clark had 57, and the team posted a score of 178.

Northern Districts then went in to bat and Blacktown claimed a wicket in the first over.

They bowled and fielded well with Northern Districts taking 4-49.

Mark Bursa took 3-14 off nine overs.

There was a ninth wicket stand from Northern Districts of 56 which Blacktown couldn't break, losing with three balls to spare.

In other grades, 2nd grade also lost in a tight game.

Northern Districts batted first, posting 231 with S. Parasher 10 overs, 2-36; K. Roughley 2-43 off 10 overs.

Blacktown in reply were 9-208, with 16-year-old J. Gauci scoring 87.

3rd grade: Blacktown were all out for 174, T. Grice 65. Northern Districts in reply were 3-175.

4th grade: Northern Districts batted first and were all out for 97 with N. Steffan taking 3-11 from six overs and A. Tidderton 3-18 from six overs. Blacktown in reply were all out for 61.

5th grade: Blacktown were all out for 211, D. Gates 40 and A. Day 30. Northern Districts in reply were 4-215.
