Teenager assualted at Rooty Hill park

Police are investigating the assault of a teenage boy in a park at Rooty Hill last night (Sunday).

About 8.40pm, a 16-year-old boy was at Morreau Reserve, near Church Street, when he was approached by a group of boys.

He became involved in an argument with the boys before being punched in the head a number of times. 

The boy fell to the ground and was kicked.

Police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics were called to the scene but the group had fled before they arrived.

The victim was taken to Nepean Hospital with suspected neck and spinal injuries.

Detectives from Mt Druitt Local Area Command are investigating the assault and urge anyone who was in the reserve and witnessed the assault or has information about those involved in the incident to contact police.
