Firebug hunt

Police are hunting for the people who set fire to two vehicles in Blacktown in the last two weeks.

A spokeswoman said NSW Fire and Rescue were called to Chicago Avenue to extinguish a truck on fire at about 4.50am on January 26.

Police checked with the owner and found the truck had been at a mechanics workshop nearby for four weeks.

In the second case at about 6am last Saturday, February 1, a vehicle was found on fire in a reserve at Augusta Street.

Fire and Rescue officers extinguished the blaze.

Fraud arrest

Two teenage boys were charged with obtaining goods with a stolen debit card in Blacktown last week. 

Police said two youths, aged 17 and 15, from Blacktown, entered a service station on Flushcombe Road and purchased several items using the card at about 4.15am on January 24.

The card had been reported stolen from a white Toyota Hiace parked in the driveway of a house at Dora Street between 7.30pm on January 23 and 7.15am on January 24.

Blacktown police identified the two boys when they viewed the store’s CCTV footage at 1pm on the same day.

A 17-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of dishonestly obtained property by deception and will appear before the Parramatta Children’s Court on February 18.

A 15-year-old was arrested on January 28 and will appear before Parramatta Children’s Court on February 25 on one charge of dishonestly obtain property by deception.

Drink drive charge

A 65-year-old Chatswood man was charged with drink driving after an accident at Seven Hills last Tuesday.

Police said a white Ford Falcon travelling along Wall Park Avenue, Seven Hills collided with a parked car at about 10.35pm.

The driver was arrested when he returned a positive breath test.

At Blacktown station the driver returned a reading of 0.170 which is high range.

 His licence was suspended and he will appear before Blacktown Local Court on February 25.

Assault and theft

Two men were assaulted during a theft in Blacktown on Sunday, February 2.

Police said the men were in a convenience store in Main Street when they were approached by a 21-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl at about 2.30am.

The 21-year-old suspect asked the two men for money.

The pair left the store and were followed by the trio who continued to ask for money.

Police allege the 21-year-old then punched one of the victims in the face and the 23-year-old hit and kicked the other one.

Police officers arrived and caught the 21-year-old and 23-year-old after a short chase.

Both men were charged with assault with intent to rob and will appear at Blacktown Local Court on February 26.
