Horton, The Whos and other classic Dr Seuss characters will take to the stage for Norwest Christian College’s musical production of Seussical Jr.
The Riverstone school’s production follows the talking elephant Horton as he tries to protect the microscopic community of Whos during adventures which take him through The Jungle of Nool and the Circus McGurkus.
It is narrated by year 11 student Lachlan Davies, who plays The Cat in The Hat.
“Rehearsals have been under way since late last year and our students have certainly stepped up to the plate in terms of commitment and talent,’’ musical director and drama teacher Kelly Andersen said.
Principal Ian Maynard said the creative arts were an important part of life at the College.
“Performance opportunities such as this one provide our talented students with tremendous experiences not only on stage, but also in back stage production,’’ he said.
Tony award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty wrote the family-friendly musical.
Seussical Jr. is on May 1, 2 and 3, at Norwest Christian College, Regent Street, Riverstone, at 7pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
