Club wins award
Blacktown Workers Club has received a ClubsNSW community award in recognition of the club's custom of hosting a Christmas party for children and its commitment to the community.
The club has also provided Meals on Wheels with a vehicle to transport food.
Couples get help
A free seminar to teach couples how to make decisions will run in Blacktown on Thursday, May 29.
Organised by the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta, the seminar will be presented by Francine and Byron Pirola who are Marriage Resource Centre directors.
Couples will be taught how to avoid feeling compromised, how to see options and choices in a situation so discussions don't become arguments, and how to use a values-based decision-making framework so choices become easier to discuss.
Details: Diocesan Assembly Centre, corner Flushcombe Road and Marion Street, Blacktown, from 7.30pm to 9pm. Details: 9933 022 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The community can recognise outstanding local businesswomen by nominating them for the 2014 Telstra Business Women's Awards.
For finalists and winners across Australia, the awards also offer a share in $650,000 in cash and prizes.
