IN BRIEF

Parking spots coming

Commuters may soon find it easier to get a parking spot at train stations on the Richmond line.

The state government is handing back rail staff car parking spaces across the rail network.

Local stations to be included in the program to hand back car parking spaces include Schofields (six spaces), Quakers Hill (three) and Riverstone (two).

"Earlier in the year, the transport minister announced staff car parks would be released to commuters . . . that number is now up to 1200 at almost 100 stations, including a number of local spaces in our community," Riverstone MP Kevin Conolly said.

"Some spaces only need gates unlocked or 'staff only' signs taken down, while others need some design and capital work to unlock as many spaces as possible."

Surprising setting

Glenwood High School students will stage the musical Oliver! — with a twist.

Their updated production follows the orphaned boy and the notorious pick-pocket crew he falls in with, but is set in the 1990s. It includes Jayden Hall as Oliver Twist, Cayde Fowler as Mr Brumble and Addison Fowler as the Artful Dodger.

Performances are at Glenwood High School on Wednesday, May 28 to Friday, May 30 at 7.30pm and Saturday, May 31 at 2.30pm.
