THIS Plumpton lane (pictured) is the latest marked for closure.
Blacktown Council will apply to the Division of Crown Lands to close the lane between Sweeney Avenue and Millard Crescent in response to residents' concerns about antisocial behaviour and possible threat to public safety.
The council got 11 submissions supporting the closure during the community consultation process, including the four neighbours.
Mount Druitt police supported the closure, despite no reported incidents about the lane since 2012.
The lane has evidence of graffiti and graffiti removal.
The closure will have minimal impact because there is alternate access. Councillors unanimously supported the closure after hearing a resident at last week's policy meeting. It's one of several the council has proposed to close this year.
"These lanes aren't a good idea," Cr Charlie Lowles said.
"People do use them but they cause a hassle and interfere with residents who live in adjoining properties. People are accessing the properties in some cases. People will still be able to go where they want to go without inconvenience.''
