Adored celebrity chefs, and reality cooking shows such as MasterChef and My Kitchen Rules have made people more willing and able to experiment in the kitchen.
With that in mind, organisers of the Good Food & Wine Show will use cooking demonstrations to inspire its visitors and give them skills to go home and cook up a storm.
In the Good Food Theatre stage chefs will share their secrets and prepare three-course meals in front of a seated audience.
Chef Darren Robertson, who co-hosted Recipe to Riches in 2013, will show how to make the best slow-cooked lamb, some "interesting" side dishes and easy things to share.
"It will all be fairly healthy, using seasonal produce to highlight the produce itself," he said.
"One of the mistakes people make in the kitchen is overcomplicating food."
Mr Robertson's cafe the Three Blue Ducks won the Best Breakfast in Sydney accolade from the SMH Good Food Guide within its first year of opening.
He described his menu as "neighbourhood food using really good ingredients".
Mr Robertson said he is always being asked what he likes to eat at home.
The answer is "simple food".
"Sometimes you just want mashed potato or a simple roast," he said.
Chef Darren Robertson will take to the theatre stage on Sunday, June 29 at 10.30am and 3pm.
The Good Food & Wine Show had a mini makeover this year and gained several new features and additions certain to make it the tastiest show to date:
Apart from a decadent line-up of food producers, wineries, chefs and industry experts, there are a number of hands-on master classes for participants.
New things to do at the show:
■ Grazing Garden: Brings together food trucks in one area, serving a range of international cuisine for visitors. The trucks will be parked, with plenty of tables and chairs to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.
■ Zumbarons Masterclass: Learn from the macaron master Adriano Zumbo how to perfect this delicate dessert. During the two-hour class two participants will share a cooking station. Cost: $99.
■ Riedel A+ Australian Wine Bar: Offers craft beer classes, tasting sessions and the wine and charcuterie sessions pairing prepared meat products with six red wines. Classes range from $40 to $85.
■ Laucke Creative Kitchen: Chefs Sammy and Bella (from My Kitchen Rules) will show visitors how to prepare meals using ingredients for sale at the show.
The Good Food & Wine Show is on from June 27-29 at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. Pre-booking is recommended for the master classes.
