HEALTHY food for children was promoted yesterday with fun activities at Blacktown Library.
Aimed at children aged two to five along with their parents, the plan encourages healthy eating in a fun way.
This was achieved through storytime at the library, with craft activities and games.
The initiative was a joint venture of WentWest, the Western Sydney Medicare Local, children's literacy group Paint the Town REaD and Blacktown Library.
The program had 40 children attend with their parents.
Jacqueline Metcalfe, of Woodcroft, and her daughter Jasmine, 2, were present.
"The kids really enjoyed it," Mrs Metcalfe said. "They had an interactive book and it was a great time for them."
Emphasis was placed on fruit and vegetables.
"It was all about teaching kids to know about healthy foods and why to eat certain foods," Mrs Metcalfe said.
Blacktown's Paint the Town REaD mascot Rooby Roo was also on hand to help.
With the program launch a success, Mrs Metcalfe hopes that it can expand.
"It would be really good to introduce [information] to parents."
