On Sunday, April 13, a fire  broke out in a take-away store in Garfield Road.

The blaze completely destroyed the shop and damaged some neighbouring premises.

Investigators later determined the fire was deliberately lit.

Detectives from Quakers Hill command and the police's Arson Unit formed Strike Force Lorinya to investigate further.

Lorinya officers said they hoped newly-released security camera footage would prompt people to come forward with information.

The footage shows someone entering the rear yard of the store shortly before the fire started and shows them running away after the fire broke out.

The person running away appears to be male with straight black hair.

“We know this fire was deliberately lit, and we believe the person depicted in this CCTV is responsible for starting it,” the Property Crime Squad commander Detective Superintendent Chapman said.

“We also know there are a number of people out there who can assist with our inquiries. My advice to them is that they should contact us before we contact them.

“If you know anything about the fire, or the circumstances that may have led up to it, please contact Crime Stoppers.

“You can provide information anonymously, and any details you provide will be treated confidentially.”
