BLACKTOWN Theatre Company will be presenting William Shakespeare's comedy As You Like It from this Friday, July 4, with a week on stage.

As You Like It includes love at first sight, complicated gender reversals and downright mischief.

The play showcases Blacktown's talented actors who are producing quality theatre for the community.

"We felt like it had been too long since we tackled a full-length play and decided it was time to give Shakespeare a look in," theatre committee president Daniel Conway said.

"As You Like It is a rich, dynamic play and is hopefully the first of many HSC texts we perform for not only the general community, but also for the students of Blacktown."

With their current production, Blacktown Theatre Company hopes to reach out to the broader community and immerse themselves into the cultural fabric of the area.

As You Like It will be presented at the Richmond Road Theatre, 19-27 Richmond Road.

The opening night is this Friday, July 4, at 8pm with shows also being performed on Saturday, July 5 (8pm), Wednesday, July 9 (8pm), Friday, July 11 (8pm), Saturday, July 12 (2pm and 8pm).

Tickets are for sale from blacktowntheatreco.com.au for $20 adults and $15 concession.
