FOUR Blacktown residents will perform in Packemin Productions' rendition of Beauty and The Beast.

Mark Power and Belinda Johnston from Blacktown, and Karen Astill and daughter Renee Hampson of Quakers Hill, were ecstatic to find out they would be joining the show.

As the show's youngest cast member, Renee — who is 10 years old — said being selected to perform in a play based around a story she had grown up with was an incredible feeling.

"I'm really looking forward to being in Beauty and the Beast and playing a live Disney character," she said.

"I even get to be a kitchen gadget, so the costumes will be amazing!"

But for Mark it wasn't just the production he was looking forward to — it was also his new role as assistant director.

"I used to do musicals when I was younger . . . this is my third show with Packemin Productions, but it's my first time as assistant director," Power said.

"I get to be on both sides of the creative process, which is exciting."

The stage production is based on the animated feature film and is filled with the well known characters, spectacular costumes and sets and unforgettable songs, including Be Our Guest .

Beauty and the Beast runs from July 18 to August 2. Tickets: $35 from Riverside Theatres, Parramatta reception, or riversideparramatta.com.au.
