A-League soccer draw announced

The long wait is nearly over for western Sydney’s football-starved community after the A-League draw for 2012/13 was released today.

The competition's new boys are in for a stern opening test on October 6 against last year’s Premier’s plate winners, the Central Coast Mariners.

The new western Sydney team will host the fixture as their first home game at a venue still to be announced.

It’s believed the club would prefer to base itself at Parramatta Stadium but other options are being explored in Blacktown, Campbelltown and Penrith.

In week two the team faces an away trip to Adelaide before hosting Sydney FC in the city’s inaugural east versus west derby.

This year the A-League will have 27 competition rounds with a revamped three-week finals series.
