Police pursuit leads to car accident in Blacktown

A woman has been hurt after her car was hit by another vehicle being pursued by police in Sydney’s west.

Blacktown police attempted to stop a Mitsubishi Nimbus for a random breath test just after 7.30pm on Saturday, July 14.

It failed to stop and the officers, in an unmarked patrol car, initiated a pursuit.

While travelling along Kildare Road, the Mitsubishi lost control and collided with an oncoming Suzuki Swift.

The male driver of the Mitsubishi fled the crash scene on foot.

A search of the surrounding area failed to locate him.

The driver of the Suzuki, a 20-year-old woman, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics.

She was then taken to Blacktown Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision are being undertaken by officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
